How do you know what memory sticks are compatible with what camera?

Can anyone recommend a brand and a good site to order from?

Check the Sony Website for your Camera model

Look at the Tech Spec it will tell you

The Camera manual should indicate also

Its either Memory Stic, Memory Stick Pro or Memory Stick Duo

I can use Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro or Memory Stick Duo. Magic Gate is not supported.

What are the differences between these formats? Will any brand behave as well as another?

It can use Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro or Memory Stick Duo. Magic Gate is not supported.

Magic Gate is just part of the name i.e. Magic Gate Memory Stick. Check out What does Magic Gate mean?
