My own summary of the Social Insurance Fund expenditures for 2019

At the Briefing on the Straw Man, we got the following figures in a presentation:

Jobseeker Recipients
• 34,430 Jobseeker’s Benefit -(Cost: €331m in 2021)
• 27,760 fully unemployed (80%)
• 6,670 part-time/casual (20%)

• 119,540 Jobseeker’s Allowance (Cost €1.5 billion)

Average duration of Jobseeker's Benefit : 13 weeks. (This population changes all the time)

So Jobseeker's Allowance cost about 5 times as much as Jobseekers Benefit!

Is that so surprising given that benefits are based on PRSI contributions, which presumably at least part fund the payments, and there are nearly four times as many allowance claims as benefit claims?
