we are doing a new build and are looking at heating systems, trying to stay away from oil as we have our own bog so we are looking at solid fuel stoves and need advice on either the charnwood island iii b with boiler or the herald 80b hunter, have seen reviews about the Hercules 30 but most importantly we want to do underfloor heating, feel solar panels don't justify their expense due to irish weather and leaning very much towards a wind turbine as we live in the west facing the sea and under a mountain so loads of wind, appreciate any suggestions, house is 275 sq/m

Hi Crossroads, Am half way through new build and have decided on charnwood island iiib, but can only find 1 stockist in southern ireland,Would like to shop around to compare prices.Just wondering, should i go north of border for better price??

I dont know what part of the country you are living in and I don't know the particular charnwood model you are talking about but this may be of interest to you, about two weeks ago we priced a charnwood 16b free standing model in a shop in Donegal and the same model was priced for us in Dublin by a friend and the price in Dublin was €700 dearer. By the way we are very pleased with a charnwood inset model which we installed here about 15 years ago. Have no connection to charnwood just a happy customer.

Thank you Rose,,A google search does not bring up stockists in ireland.Im in Cork, but travelling is not a problem.Would appreciate it if you could post name of Donegal supplier.Great excuse to go to Donegal...Thanks again.

murphy's in kinvara in galway,mp moran in swinford and superstore in offaly but fenton fires in wcklow(all have websites) is worth a look as is stovesonline in uk as is stoveareus in uk and shipping cost quoted was £150 and sterling is low

Donegal plumbing and heating supplies is the place in Donegal town we got one quote from and its near the hospital. Phone No. is 074-972052. Sligo Heat centre also do charnwood stoves and its phone No is 071-9160373. It might be wise to make a few phone calls before undertaking the journey from Cork

Thank you for those names and nos..Will be on phone ist thing tomorrow morning.I think waiting time for delivery can be about 2 months,so must get order in asap,,Thanks again folks..
