Solar Panels

Just wondering if it is better to hold off until Spring to invest in solar panels.Given the rapid rise of interest rates and energy prices. Is a recession more likely in the new year given rising costs .

Well, is this potential recession going to reduce the price of solar panels?

There is no oversupply of solar panels that is ready to crater. Demand for solar both nationally and internationally doesn't seem to be slowing and we import all our solar so it's not like the panels will get cheaper due to lower input cost. The other price factor is labour, there is no shortage of the type manual and technical labour for panel installation so don't be relying on that.

Recessions is not a buzzwords for things everything cheaper like 2009, it just means that GDP isn't growing.

Catch 22.

The longer you wait the more you will spend on your energy bills. They won’t generate as much this time of year now for another 4-5 months

The sooner the better imho if you are serious about getting them. Costs are not going to come down significantly.

Chance are if you book them in now they won’t be able to install until new year anyway

Actually with High Inflation, you are better off buying now and reaping the rewards later.

There is up to 6 months waiting aswell, so act now to reap rewards in spring.

How long before they start taxing home produced energy.
Has already been announced, first €200 FIT is tax free, then balance at your marginal rate. Having said that if it’s being taxed surely you can write off the expenses to set up that income?
