Soft close for front door

My kids are always banging the front door to the point where every other door in the house reverberates. No amount of nagging will stop them doing it. I have the soft close "thingys" on my kitchen doors which are brilliant. Is it possible to get the same for a heavy front door?

You should treat the problem not the symptom, wonder how your neighbour feels if your not in a detached house, tough love required here :D

We live in a detached house in the country so no problems with neighbours....

I solved this 10 years ago with a hydraulic slow-closing mechanism, such as you see on pub and shop doors. I got it from Coens of Gort (now Corrys) (about €20) and fitted them myself - just a couple of screws.
Still going strong. I often think of the years of shouting 'dun an doras' I saved myself.

why not deduct 20cts from their pocket money for every door slam?

I remember being called to new corporation house near christchurch about 15/20 years ago. New tenants in a new house, we were asked to go in and assess snags.
A guy was sitting in the sitting room watching TV (a can of lager remote control etc).
It was a week day lunchtime.

Every internal door downstairs was cut in half. The top half closed , the bottom open. When asked why he cut the doors in half, we were told that he could not stop the kids banging the doors and that this was his solution.
