Does anyone know what the situation is if sw are requesting child maintenance from an absent father. Fathers name is on the birth cert but it has been brought to his attention that unfortunatly the child is not his. If he requests a dna test will sw or the mother of child be liable for costs or will he have to cover himself. thanks
 
He will have to cover the costs of the DNA test himself. But it would be important that he get the test done and then if he is not the father that he begin the procedure to have his name removed from the child's birth cert. As long as it remains there he will be deemed liable for maintenance. Best of luck.

You can get reputable tests done with your GP from Barrington Labs, George's Quay, Limerick for €350. Cheapest i've found..........
