question about smoke damage to electrical goods. HAs anyone had any experiences in claiming for this.

I know that electrical equipment exposed to smoke may not cause problems immediately, but you should probably get them replaced or check out.

What are the insurance people willing to compensate for this type of damage?

Depends on the accidental damage clause of your house insurance policy really. Check the policy booklet terms & conditions for information.
