When I am driving i am getting a strong smell of petrol. I have only had a service and my NCT is due this week will it fail nct because of this
 
I'd be more worried about the car catching fire than the NCT!
Maybe you have a leak, and should get it checked out by a mechanic.
 
Are you sure it's petrol and not exhaust fumes? Either way - I agree with umop3p!sdn. The NCT is the least of your worries. Get it checked out.
 
Sounds like a problem with the fuel pump. A strong smell of petrol in the car is usually a good sign. It's easy enough to fix, and inexpensive

Wow ...where did you get your crystal ball from.! what a load of rubbish!
also petrol and exhaust fumes smell very differently....

No doubt ....You have a leak.
regarding the NCT ...Yes it will fail if the fuel leak is visible to the tester.
 
Definitley was a smell of petrol. Brought it to a mechanic and fixed it something to do with the wrong mix only took a few minutes to sort out twist of a screw actually. Anyway he also said smell of petrol can mean several things and always best to get checked
