Smartphone purchase advice

Hi everybody,

I'm about to buy my first smartphone (I know) and I'm looking for advice. I'm planning to go with the http://www.48months.ie/membership-plans plan. I don't want to get a phone that I'm worried will be stolen i.e. Not too expensive. I just want one with an OK camera, decent battery and regular functionality.

I was thinking of the Sony Xperia E1.

Any opinions?

Thanks.

First smartphone last December was Sony experia e3...glad it's not too big, camera good quality!

Hi, purchased a Sony xperia J (I think) - not great phone in the long run to be honest. Guess it does what is does, but struggling with response at times. I regularly need to clean up apps cache as amount of RAM gets eaten up on the phone by the apps.

I'm thinking to change to a smart phone on sale by Aldi this week - higher spec than I have at moment.

Guess your type of phone all depends on what you want to use it for, but once you get into the smart phone, you'll be downloading a lot more apps over time. As for one that won't be stolen - don't bet of that, seems anything is fair go!

Re 48months - great offers in there... good packages...

Unless you're buying a SIM free phone don't forget to price in the cost of getting your new phone unlocked. E bay worth checking out for unlock codes imo.

Not a bad starter smart phone and great value too!

Just noticed this phone will sell in Aldi UK for £49.99 which is approximately €71, is it not a tad unfair that they will be charging €90 for it in Ireland ?

Thanks so much for all the replies folks. I really don't want to have facebook or anything like it on a phone so an Xperia should be fine. I might check the Aldi one tomorrow but it's the same price as the Xperia E1 on fonez.ie

Thanks again.
