If you don't need the money for a few years then you can probably get a better (tax free) return with your CU via a special term account - see [broken link removed] for example. On the other hand even after exemption from DIRT other financial institutions may be offering better deposit returns. And maybe rather than deposits a low charges unit linked fund of some sort may be appropriate. It's difficult to give specific advice in the absence of more detailed info about your overall financial situation. Obviously if you have any debts you will probably be better off using the money to reduce/clear these.
