Ive gone the same way as others here. Got in NTL broadband, got rid of the landline and make calls from mobile. Have talked with a mate with skype in australia with crystal clear reception but havent created an account yet.
Zag, Ive read some comments on blogs across the web and it seems that there are pros and cons in using skype in a bus. environment. Ive found..
Pros are
1. cheap or free calls,
2. conferencing ability, (which Ive used and had very good reception).
The cons are
1. trying to get the other users to use skype,
2. the speed of their internet connection,
3. the handset they have, as Im sure you know you can get a handset from skype for 50e but if the other user doesnt have a handset they might baulk at shouting at a pc
4. Reception limited to certain countries and then not clear in all of those.
5. the points max highlighted (although Ive only seen him quote those)
For the time being Id use it only in a home environment, but if you want to take a chance in work, why not..
Meanwhile, heres an interesting developments with skype..
