Sky Remote Control Broke

My daughter was playing with the sky remote control took it of her and it doesnt work anymore. It will change the volume but thats it.
My sister reckons just buy a new sky remote but the volume is working and the control is flashing so it does seem to be working just not changing the channels!!
The box is working ok can change channels through that (but it is getting annoying having to get up all the time!) :(

Anyone Any Ideas?
 
You don't say how young the daughter is but it she was sucking on it that it might need to be dried out (possibly opened up first) to see if that helps? We had that happen with various devices over the past couple of years!

If you need to buy a new one then they are readily available locally or online.

She is 3. She was just pressing the buttons on it! Went from turning the tv of all the time to changing channels!! Will just have to buy one €40 though for one! Will have to hide this one on her.

I wonder if I rang sky and made up something would they send me a free one? :D :D

Difficult to see how that alone would break it. Is there any hard reset button at the back that might help? Any chance she could have done more damage - e.g. stood on it etc.?

Shop around (especially online) as I'm sure that you can get them cheaper.

hi, before you go out and buy a new one press the "SKY" button in the middle on the top of your remote, she could have pressed the TV button or something else and thats why its not working. This has happened to me before and pressing that usually does the trick. As you said its still working the volume.
 
NOt sure about SKy but with NTl I have twice got new remotes when I called in with the old one along with a copy of my bill.
 
keep the old one with the batteries out for her to play with. i bought a cheepo remote in the euro shop for my 14 month old to play with. no good, the sky remote is the only one she is interested in.

should picked up the Wii remote yesterday and put it to her ear like a phone and said "hello", which was cute.
 
It is possible that the SKY remote needs to be reset for your television. If you have kept the SKY manual around then the instructions will be in that. You will have a code in the manual that will allow the sky remote to be programmed for your brand/model of TV. You might have to try several codes to find the right one.

Oftentimes the installer does all this during the install, so you might not necessarily be aware that you need to do it. If you order a new remote you will need to do it as well.
