Sky Plus recording question

Hi, i only received a sky plus box yesterday so forgive me if this is a silly question.

If the xfactor starts at 8pm. can i hit record. then watch the recording at 8.10pm and allow someone else to watch another channel in another room via the magic eye?

You can record two programmes simultaneously, but only one programme/recording can viewed at a time.
