Can anyone give me advice about the best way to fit new skirting boards - i.e. glue or nailed, and if nailed, what size nails should be used and where is the best place to insert same - also is there a best way to finish off the job so that the nails don't show up
... just asking your advice coz my builder has started putting them up and as far as i can see, he is doing a rubbish job!
.... so i'd like to go to him armed with the best info possible and ask him to start again

thks

They should be nailed into the studs behind the plaster board, otherwise its just the plaster holding them on, they wont take much abuse from any juniors in the house. The nails should be hammered home about 1 or 2 mm below the woodline of the board and then a spot of wood filler would cover the nail heads. Use the smallest head nails you can get.
