we have a skip out the back for getting rid of waste and rubbish from a water leak in the house..and you know how it is..yesterday it was 3/4 full but not anymore! its practicaly full
i guess nothing can really be done about it? i know we will probably need another skip...so has anyone got any solutions on stopping this from happening the next time or is it just a problem we all have to put up with?
 
Skips are expensive now.
Two options.
cc tv.
Or have all your material ready for the skip before it arrives. Then a quick load and a call back for collection.
 
i do have a camera but i also have too men in the house that can't go 1 night without taking over to play the xbox! so can't watch it all night
someone suggested taking out the stuff that wasn't mine...but i don't think i could do that at all! i wouldnt mind at all if the people had asked if they could throw a couple things in...i think its the way people go about things sometimes
 
i think i have a vcr somewhere...if i do record it then what to do? confront the people? i just don't want the skip to be tipping over with stuff i guess...it would just be a pain if the skip hire company refused to take it away if it gets overloaded from people taking advantage...but like i said if they asked to drop in a few bits then i wouldnt mind so much, just the fear some sneaky people will get carried away and i get left with rubbish that isnt even mine and footing the cost to get that removed
 
If its out the back how are they getting into your garden to put the rubbish in it?

You could try ringing the skip company, tell them the problems you are having and make arrangements regarding the next skip. Have the rubbish stacked ready for collection and ask the skip company to deliver/collect in one day or else you will have to take your business elsewhere.

Would this not be regarded as trespass ? At the very least you could give the details to your local council for illegal dumping ?
 
when i say around the back...its in a back court/alley which other houses also have access to, its also used for parking out there, i found the vcr and its set to record..so will see if i pick up anything..i will need the next skip there for a few days also because there is work going to be done in the house...ceilings ripped down and floors up, the only place to put it is out the back garden but i have 2 dogs out there, if i can ge a lock up skip that would be cool too...but i think the next one i will need will be smaller than the one here already
 
We had the opposite problem one year as it was just before Halloween.

Our skip was raided three times.
 
The trend around our area at one stage was to set fire to skips late at night. A skip opposite our house was set alight and the fire brigade was called. The firemen confirmed that they had arrived just in time as there was a gas cylinder in it and luckily enough the fire had not reached it yet. The guy who hired the skip did not put it there and wasn't even aware of it.

Best to keep a careful eye on what your neighbours or whoever are dumping in the skip.
 
the thugs about have been breaking into cars out there alright...and our during our first year in the house our wheelie bins were being set on fire...its not a huge step for them to go to lighting the skips on fire...i moved my car because of the break ins so it would be other peoples cars i'd worry about
 
there is no etiquette,take out whats not yours and report to the council illegal dumping.

I'd imagine some of the other neighbours (who didn't make use of the skip) might object if this stuff is just dumped in the alley, and report the OP for 'illegal dumping'. Plus this assumes the OP can easily prove she (?) wasn't responsible for the items she takes out.
 
Put a sign on skip stating that when you are done with it you will put up a sign to let everyone know
 
I know someone who had a similiar issue. However he caught them on camera. He quietly told them he had footage of them dumping illegally and the choices were pay for the skip or remove what he dumped or he would report him for illegal dumping. Lo and behold the following night he had footage of the guy removing the stuff.
