as a single parent with a child living abroad in eu i am not living with the mother,, but have access to my son I go abroad to see him he also comes here can i clam the one parent family allowance,? his mother wont give me a copy of his birth cert but i think i could get this myself , he was not born in ireland i am irish and lived here all my life

You can claim the single parent tax allowance (form is OP1 I think) provided the child lives with you at least some time during the year. The form can be downloaded (www.revenue.ie). Im not sure if the fact of the child living abroad will create any problems. Its a while since I claimed this but I dont recall any problems.
