Signing on and short-term offered self employed work

Hi there
My husband is signing on and was offered 2 weeks work but on a self employed basis. Is it very difficult to sign off and sign on again when the work is finished? He wouldn't have a p45 to sign on again.

I remember some time back I was on short time work for 4/5 months, signed off and worked away. Two weeks before Christmas was let go, could'nt get signed on again for a few weeks. Christmas was a dull affair that year.

Certainly not worth it on a self employed basis, he would have to register as self employed with all that brings, a bit of a faff for just two weeks. Check with citizens info for the exact procedure but doubt it will be seamless, might not be too bad actual from welfare side, it's the registering with revenue and then I presume having to do a return for those two weeks.
