Employers are under no obligation to pay sick pay.

There is Illness Benefit, a social welfare payment.

Plus there is enhanced COVID illness benefit.

When a worker is told to self-isolate by a doctor or has been diagnosed with COVID-19, they can apply for a COVID-19 enhanced Illness Benefit payment of €350 per week.

COVID-19 enhanced Illness Benefit has different 'Rules' than normal Illness Benefit. Find out more about getting COVID-19 enhanced Illness Benefit.

Sorry to hear about your mam - if the hospital can give you copies of any sick notes then forward them to her employer - presume they've been kept in the loop regarding her illness?
