Shower Installation Quotation

I have recieved the following quotation from a plumber I know through a friend. I am looking to install a Triton 8.5kW electric shower to replace my pumped Mira shower in the main bathroom. The pumped Mira shower is to be relocated in the downstairs new toilet room.

1. To install the electric shower, remove bottom tiles & replace & rewaterproof with sealant = €350

2. To remove existing toilet,cistern & sink & relocate, adding new fittings.
To remove Mira shower from upstairs bathroom & install downstairs.
To install new shower tray.
To tile floor, 1 sqm, to tile walls 8 sqm.
To relocate existing spotlight. = €900

Can someone tell me if this is expensive. I have now been made aware that he will only connect to the hot & cold for the Mira shower downstairs. It seems to me that he has misunderstood me.

Will I get good pressure from the shower if the water tank is located in the attic of a 2 storey house. I am concerned that he is connecting to the hot & cold water behind the kitchen sink as the shower room is located adjacent to the kitchen.
 
If he's taking the cold feed from the kitchen, this will be at mains pressure. Ensure the shower is designed to take a mains feed.

First off, what type of shower have you? The mira one.

When you say relocate ware, how far are you relocating to?
 
you need to be very careful here... my understanding is that you cannot have two elec showers in same house unless it is wired so that only 1 can run at anyone time.... i think you need to notify esb if you plan to run two showers at same time as load may be too high and potential burn out/fire

if the shower upstairs was on gravity feed from attic tank and is again on gravity feed on ground floor then it will be slightly better due to higher head of water... if this mira was a gravity fed shower then you wont be able to connect it to mains water supply direct

as regards costs, they dont seem over the top but why not ask another plumber/elec to quote for you

Mira shower is to be reused downstairs instead of in the bathroom upstairs. Electric shower is to replace the Mira in the bathroom

No, one electric shower & one pumped shower

This plumber has already commenced some of the work

Ask him about whether he has installed an anti-scald valve, very useful even when not connected to the mains.
Mains pressure can vary, while the pressure from the hot water source will tend to remain constant.
On reason to run both from header tanks.boilers.
