Basically what this new hot shot wants is to do my job for more money.
A colleague wants to push for a new position to be created for our department. First of all we would have to put pressure on Management to bring in this new position.
I dont understand why you have to opt out or in, dont get involved. If asked your opinion you could support it and then apply if the position is opened.Should I opt out of the process this time round?
Your 'friend' or the colleague?
She has sent around a group email to ask for a meeting to discuss it. At first I didn't know what to do. But now I am going to try for an acting up position - I am doing the work in question anyway but this isn't reflected in my title or salary. I don't know whether its wise to let her know this or not.Well then let your colleague push for the new position. Take a back seat to the "pushing" and if the new position is created then it will be opened to all to apply presumably. Why do you think you have to be a the forefront of this push to get the new position.

If you are qualified for it get some help on your interview skills and give it a shot. Good luck.
