Should I give up?

Hi,

Just looking for opinions please.

Went for this really good job and have had 2 interviews so far. I was told at my interview last week that their decision should be made by the end of the week. I was also told in my first interview in so many words that the job was mine. The person who gave my reference was also told this. But I didnt get my hopes up and was waiting to hear from them the end of last week.

I didn't hear anything Friday like I thought so I sent an email to the girl who interviewed me (who had previously said to give her an email if I have any questions etc). So got to this morning and no reply so I sent her another quick email just to say that I realise i'm being eager but im just wondering if a decision has been made yet. No reply.

I have other interviews to go to and another job offer on the table that I dont really want to take as I want this job but should I just give up now at this stage considering they havent gotten back to me???
 
How long do you have before you need to give an answer on the job offer on the table? If it were me I'd hold off as long as possible until you absolutely have to give an answer on the job offer (and even then you can ring the girl from the interview and explain the situation if you still haven't heard from her). It could be that she is out sick.
 
The end of this week. I'm just panicking though as I really really want this job and had expected to hear from them by now either way. Even if this other job wasnt on the table I would still be the same. I mean 2 emails unresponded could mean she is out sick but there were other people in the interviews who could be looking after the applications whilst he's off. It was down to myself and another guy. I think maybe I should just give up on it now.
 
HR can be notoriously slow to respond to interviewees, no point giving up yet, it was only last week after all. Hang tight until Friday.
 
That's the thing though!! They don't have a HR department. Suppose I just need to be a bit more patient. It's just I really really want this job.
 
I know you are in a very stressful situation and its hard to know what to do, but the fact that you have not heard anything in a week, is not an indication that you are not going to be offered the job. Even if you have been told that they will make a very quick decision, it frequently takes longer than you think, for a final decision to be made.
