Should I cut back bamboo

I have a bamboo Phyllostachys Nigra*,I think, in a large container. There are new shoots coming up. Should I cut back the others? They were a bit damaged by frost i think, some leaves turning brown at tips or to middle?

Another thing, do the individual shoots not get thicker at all.And could they be taken from container and planted in garden?

*It says [broken link removed]they turn black after a couple years. Mine did.

Water, water and more water! leaves changing colour is usually a sign of them drying out. I wouldnt cut them out. If you want, you can take the plant from its pot and then split the plant in 2 or 3 and so on depending on how big the clump is. Do this at the end of the summer and make sure to water in well for a while after planting out. It takes a few weeks to get them settled.

I do water them regularly and of course there is something called raintoo. I know too much water can be bad for plant too

They wont really thicken up in the pot, as the pot size limits the growth of the plant, mine all flowered and have been looking pretty dead for the last couple of years, they seem to be making a comeback this year though.
