thanks, that seems to be what I fear, they can randomly freeze your accountYou might want to read this thread.
well, probably the main reason is the quality of what they give for their fees. The consensus for the likes of Revolut and most or all of the new online/Fintech banks seems to be to use them but always have a "regular" bank account as a backup. Why wouldn't you just keep your BOI account open?
What specifically is lacking quality in terms of the service that they provide?well, probably the main reason is the quality of what they give for their fees.

If you don't like the BOI fees then, as @S class mentioned above, you can get transaction fee free banking from EBS.
thanks guysDo you want a free Irish account to get your salary paid into ?
If so you could open a moneysaver account with EBS.
It's very basic but would do fine for transferring money to revolut.
It really depends on how you use the AIB account.or it is better to go with EBS then?
I have BOI for years with only a few:It really depends on how you use the AIB account.
If you ever incur any day to day transaction charges on it then you'll probably be better off with the EBS account.
But there may be current account services offered by AIB that you use that are not provided by EBS.
Why not just move to EBS who offer zero transaction charges? So, I’m curious whether I should just move to AIB due to low standing charges.
Also, I dunno how hard is to move between banks in IRL
EBS requires to go to the branch in order to open account and switch, also, I imagine to send money I have to do SEPA transfer. Why not just move to EBS who offer zero transaction charges?
Why AIB which does have transaction charges?
Why is that a problem?EBS requires to go to the branch in order to open account and switch,
Send money from where to where?also, I imagine to send money I have to do SEPA transfer.
I don't understand what you mean here.In case my revolut got frozen (locked) there won't be any backup with EBS because no cards, etc
I read that they do not have cards for the freeEBS do offer a debit card.
I meant to transfer money to Revolut from EBSSend money from where to where?
because I do not have a close by, and I hate going into branches, but it is probably the least reasonable pointWhy is that a problem?
I don't think you need to worry about that. Banks don't seem to be interested in visas or residence permits once they have opened the account and obtained proof of address. My main concern is that, as a non-EU citizen, there's a chance that Revolut could suspend my account at any time, especially if I experience delays in renewing my Irish Residence Permit (IRP
that’s not entirely true, as I got asked few times already promising to suspend my account during delays with IRPs. But they have never actually done that, only askedI don't think you need to worry about that. I stand corrected then. Did Revolut ask for a copy of the new residence permit?that’s not entirely true, as I got asked few times already promising to suspend my account during delays with IRPs. But they have never actually done that, only asked
That was Revolut
yeah, asked me to upload through the appI stand corrected then. Did Revolut ask for a copy of the new residence permit?
So Revolut knew that the residence permit you initially submitted when opening the account had expired and wanted to see a new one? I'm surprised they take this so seriously.yeah, asked me to upload through the app
