A friend has asked me to enquire about his situation as follows;
he worked for last 12 years paye plenty prsi contributions, then made redundant in late 07 and signed on for jb,
began to get a little bit of consultancy work for a few months in 08... not much and only a few days every few weeks..effectively as self employed and as he is extremely honest came off the dole(as his payments monthly exceeded the dole). this work now completely dried up (lasted about 6 months)(he is the process of sorting out any tax issues so not trying to dodge anything). The question is can he now go back to apply for jobseeker benefit or is automatically disbarred by virtue of being part time self employed for 6 months. If he is disbarred does this mean that even if was self employed for say 1 month would that disbar him?
Just to be clear he wants to do the right thing so he is not looking for any advice to do the tax man or the social welfare just what his options are,
