I am considering investing a lump of cash as a 'college fund' for my kids - one is nearly two and the other is on the way 
. (even if they turn out to be thick and don't go to college, I like the idea of having a lump of cash for them when they become adult - first cars\house deposits etc etc).
I am considering putting €10k aside for this now (I have about 55k in cash at present) and would be happy to lock this away for 15 years. I may well put extra cash into this fund in the years to come also - certainly the way the politicans are talking, it looks like it'll be needed.
Has anyone similar experience of setting up such a college fund and what suggestions do you have as to a suitable investment vehicle?
