Setting up company for contracting

Hi,
Would I be better off setting up a company for contracting and self financing my pension with tax breaks, etc or going in as a permanent employee with pension, vhi etc?

How do you go about setting up a company with 1 employee?

No simple answer - as a contractor, you will have no protection against unfair dismissals, no redundancy payments, no sick pay etc etc.
