separation and buying again

Hi posted this in the home buying section but might get an answer here. I am separated (2+years ) and buying again. I was refused a house sale on the basis that a sale would close quicker for a first time buyer that for someone who is in my situation. Are there any extra steps, documentation etc. required that lengthen a house sale to someone like me. Should I be looking for this now before I look at another house? Separtion agreement in place
Thanks in advance.

I am in a very similar situation with my partner. If you have a separation agreement in place then there should be no issue.

Also ... don't forget that in a situation like this you may be able to qualify for FTB benefits (higher rates of mortgage interest relief, lower rates of or exemption from stamp duty etc.) even if you would normally be classed as a non FTB. See .
