Has anyone out there been in a similar situation to this: I was in a relationship for 15 years but my then partner and I never married. I am a co-owner of the house we shared and it's my primary residence. 5 years ago my ex moved out and bought a house in a different county. Is he liable for tax on this property as his name are on the deeds.

You mean the house that you live in as your primary residence, no property tax is due on that as you live there. But you need to sort out getting his name off the deeds. Now would be a good time, especially if the equity is low.

Thanks for responding Bronte. We are working on it. Unfortunately there were boundary issues and it's taken land registry close to 5 years to sort it out because they were so busy during the 'boom' years. In the meantime, is my ex partner who has not resided in the house for the past 5 years liable for tax as he is technically the owner until the deeds are transferred to my name.
