Would anyone recommend putting down semi solid fooring in the kitchen intead of tiles. I accept flooding may be a worry but has anyone actually gone ahead and put it down...Thanks james

I thought about putting in semi solid flooring but opted for tiles for my kitchen abount 3 years ago and truthfully, cant imagine not having the tiles now. They take all the hard knocks and chair scraping and anything else that you throw at them and never a worry

I went with solid oak flooring throughout kitchen/dining. My kids' heads couldn't take the hard knocks off a tile floor and there have been some falls that I think thank God it wasn't tile, and secondly dining table and chairs have felt mats fitted so no scratches, although there is one or two marks but nothing too noticeable.

Thanks for that....I feel that a wooden floor would be less harsh than the tiles but a liitle concerned about chairs etc making marks...would be interested to find out more about the felt mats?? TA James

They're available in most DIY stores. They're felt or a similar surface on one side while the other is a peel off, sticky one. You can also get them in packs of small shapes and sheets also (approx. half A4 size) and these are very suitable for cutting into the shapes of wide table/sofa legs etc. I've used them also and found them excellent.
