Selling house - what updates can I expect from the auctioneer?

I'm the executor of my late mother's will and will be selling her house through an auctioneer. The house will be sold by private treaty. I am not living in the city where the house is being sold and so am remote from the auctioneer.

What sort of updates can I expect or ask from him, within reason? I wish to be kept informed but don't want to cross the line where I would be pestering him for information.

Thanks.

Arrange for a weekly text/email/phone call at 6:00pm on Friday evenings (or whenever suits you) listing viewings, enquiries, etc. Tell them you won't make any calls but that if they neglect the updates or haven't sold the house in 3/6/12 months (whatever suits you) someone else gets the job. Sign a "no foal no fee" contract with them and say they can charge their "advertising and admin costs" to cost of sales internally.
