We have a new build. The foundation is also the floor and it is not level. Has anyone out there any good advice about levelling inexpensively for finished floors? Help!!!
 
how is the foundation also the floor??? that simply cannot be.... unless youve insulated under the foundations.....

have you a raft foundation?
 
It's a raft foundation insulated beneath in esp. Problem is not enough attention was paid to getting the concrete level at the time it went in, now it's looking very expensive to get it level for tiling etc.
 
Need to figure out what to put on the concrete to lay 1) tiles 2) timber and 3) laminate. Does anyone know if putting down a layer of plywood would be a good idea ?
 
What stage is the build at, are the walls up?
generally the concrete for a raft foundations wouldnt be suitable anyway to tile on anyway.. the aggregate would be to big. Also the extent of the pour would be so large as to make it extremly difficult to get a level screed off.

The usual procedure would be to pour a secondary scree over the raft once th eheating pipes etc are installed. This secondary screed may only be about 60mm, or even as low as 30mm with an easi-screed type product.
have you the room to pour a screed?
 
We would certainly have room for 30 or even 60 mm more on floors. We have internal plastering done and are onto second fixes
 
pouring a concrete screed throughout would be a lot cheaper than pouring self levelling compound throughout.

youd have to level and screed yourself though, ie not self levelling...
