I wonder if anyone can give me any info - my husband was self employed from Oct 06, however his business is now closed and I wonder if we are entitled to any welfare, he was paye employee for 20 years prior to that. I work part time and we have 2 children. He is actly seeking employement.

If he has closed his business and de-registered he may be entitled to unemployment benefit as it appears he has sufficient PRSI contributions to qualify.
He should go to his nearest SW office (bring passport and proof of Address) and apply for jobseekers benefit
