tax is Ok so chill.

gross tax about 50% less costs

Gross tax about 50% ? On what, this rate (standard 42% + 6% PRSI/Levies) would only apply to marginal income, the effective rate would likely be a bit lower. Obviously one would expect that a doctor will earn enough that some of his income will be at the higher rate but not all of it.

I think a visit to an accountant/tax adviser would be in order.

Why not give the tax people a call they can be very helpful more so than a financial advisor especially one from BoI.

With ClubMan clearly off on his annual 5 days in a boarding-house in Bray (daily visits to the dodgems and a candyfloss every second day, funds permitting), I feel that I should intervene here and demand some evidence for the above.

But with the weather as good as it it is....I just haven't got the energy.

Hurry back, ClubMan.

I'll second that.

And I was betting on Dollymount - he being a dedicated Northsider and all that.

We'll be in rag order if he doesn't return soon. :D
