self build time enquiry

How much of a house do you have to build before you can leave it for two years before building the next stage of the house without it leaving damage to the completion of the house. ie would you have to at least put on the roof before then or build up the walls or will the base of the house be ok for two years before the next stage commences? Please let me know. Thanks.

It depends on what stage you want to leave it at - you could get the base up to floor level with the floor poured, anything after this you will have to continue until you are watertight ie roof/slates and windows. then you may as well continue as you would be very close to finishing.
