Security updates

I am getting an “Updates are ready” icon but when I select Express Install it comes up with the message:

“Updates were unable to be successfully installed

The following updates were not installed:

VIA Technologies Inc. - Networking - VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter”



I don’t know what the above is but I can’t install it or get rid of the yellow shield icon. Any ideas?

It's presumably an updated driver for your network card. I prefer not to let Windows Update to install drivers automatically because I've seen cases if it selecting the wrong ones and screwing things up (may actually be the fault of the device/driver manufacturer rather than Microsoft). Actually, in most cases I prefer to review all updates and only apply those that I amd happy with or that I know I need. Anyway, in relation to your specific problem is there any thing useful ?
