SCS Society of Chartered Surveyors APC Assessment of Professional Competence Process

Does anyone have any details of companies/individuals who will act as a mentor through the APC process for the SCS (Society of Chartered Surveyors)? It would normally be the employer paying the fees and acting in this role, but say if someone wanted to take it upon themselves to get chartered, who would act as the mentor? I've been told there are companies that specialise in this but can't seem to source any info.

Any help much appreciated!

If your going down this route surely you already know a chartered surveyor.
They can be your supervisor & councillor

Do you have a link, cant seem to find it? They've changed the layout of the website.

I do know some chartered surveyors but regular meetings and general guidance require time and effort which comes at a cost. Some individuals / companies specialise in guiding probationers through the process by doing mock interviews and other things.

Apologies, I didn't realise that the website had changed that radically!

According to the probationer guide you need to contact the Society's Education Officer in order to contact the APC Doctor. I would say that the Education Officer would be a very good place to start in order to find counsellors/mentors.

If you were previously employed by a company that offered this service to probationers have you considered meeting with your mentor and asking them to consider continuing to guide you through the process?

There are a few people who can act as your supervisor it helps if they are in the same company but I was told that if there is someone in your current company that is a member of any professional institute they can act as your supervisor. I'm not sure how the process works if you're self employed. It may also depend on what discipline you want to get your charter in.
If you want to do it in geomatics I’d suggest you contact Audrey Martin in DIT and ask her what to do as she is the chair of that division at the moment.
Otherwise contact the education officer as suggested by others already.

Good luck
