1 - It's time for us to get a TV for the front room anyhow so will get a saorview ready tv. Does this mean we won't need a TVtop box in addition to the new TV?

2 - we have a HDD recorder that we've been using with our existing TV. Can we continue to use this with a TV that has saorview. As far as I understood the signal used to come straight through the HDD recorder and then into the TV but now if the signal comes through the TV first how will we record?

tks

1. You wont need a set top box

2. Dont think you can record Saorview this way but others will be better informed

Some Tvs can record onto a hard drive , or else you need a set top box which can record or connect it to your hdd recorder

It's looking like HDD recorders are fast becoming obsolete. Get a tv with a USB recording facility and buy a external hard drive to store the recorded material.
