Sandstone Walkway - Need Help

Hey guys, I layed a sandstone walkway down to the shed a few months back. I used cement mix to anchor the steps to the ground. However the top half of the garden is mostly in the shade, and the ground can get very damp and wet. The cement did not take in the wet area and the stones "wobble" (move) evey time you walk on them.

They will have to come up. What could I use as foundation for these stones that would help and make them stick to the ground?

Any suggestions would be great,

Thanks,
James.

Did the concrete set? If the concrete is gone off or set and the slabs are simply wobbling because they didnt get 'grabbed' by the concrete you could bond them in place using an all weather construction sealant.

It can happen that over zealous tapping when laying slabs causes the suction bond between the slab and concrete to separate resulting in loose slabs when concrete is set.

When laying slabs get the concrete roughly to the finished level and float the slab on, squidging the concrete getting a good 'bite' on the slab. Tap if necessary and leave it alone. No more loose slabs.

Good quality construction mastic will be perfect for this repair job and will last as long as the concrete. Get it in any decent builders providers.

Thanks Sconhome, that is very helpful. No, the concerte did not take to the underside of the slaps, hence I could lift them up.

I will look out for some construction mastic. I want to try and finish the job before the end of the month.
