Hi,

I'm going into the solicitors tomorrow morning to sign the contract on the sale of my house (the first signing, not the closing). When I was on the phone, he told me to bring a passport or drivers' licence and a utility bill. However, I have a funny feeling in the back of my mind that he might have asked for something else.

It's too late now to ring him. Does anyone know what else I might need, if anything?

Cheers.

Re: Very quick question re: contracts

Re: Very quick question re: contracts

Here is the list I have

PPS number
Utility bill
Passport

if married:
Long form marriage cert
utility bill for both people

best of luck:)

Re: Very quick question re: contracts

Cheers for those,

I think it was the PPS number alright.

Interestingly, although I'm married, he definitely didn't ask me for the cert (that's something I would have remembered). Ah well, he can ask tomorrow if he wants it.

Re: Very quick question re: contracts

If you have your cert I would bring it ,he will probably CHARGE YOU for the phone call to get it.

Don't have it, I'm afraid.

Anyway, he can't charge because it's not included in the schedule of fees he already provided.

Re: Very quick question re: contracts

Is outlay not included in your schedule of fees? Lucky! We were quoted a fee + VAT + outlay (phone calls, photocopies) - we're closing on Friday and I'm interested to see how the outlay will break down...

It is, but it's a flat fee of E45 (+VAT obviously).

These solicitors aren't cheap, but they came highly recommended from people I know who'd used them before, and they have been very good (getting back to us immediately, hassling other people's solicitors when we ask them to and keeping us up to date with what's going on). Having used a cheap and rubbish solicitor previously, I'm happy to pay the premium.
