Room Ventilation via soffit as opposed to the wall

Hi,

The eaves on our house extend well beyond the wall with the result that the soffit level is well below the ceiling level. A hole in the wall vent would be lower down.

Furthermore, the front rooms in our house face onto a busy road therefore am also concious of traffic noise.

I was thinking of ventilating the front rooms by running flex ducting between the soffit and ceiling bedrooms with appropriate grills/entry points at either end. I am thinking of putting a continous extract fan in the bathroom over the shower and likewise piped to the soffit.

I would welcome your thoughts as to whether this is a good approach to get the air changing in these rooms. At the moment there is no ventilation whatsoever.

Thanks,

B.

I did this years ago in my old house: Vents in the soffitt, and I had a 90 deg bend in the pipe in the wall, so the grille was still in the wall, as distinct from the ceiling.

In a finished house, you might have to go through the ceiling, but that's not the end of the world....
