Hello,
Like lots of people we had some roof damage during the last big storm and had that repaired. However, I was an absolute nervous wreck all that night listening to noise in the attic and swore I would ‘future proof’ the roof to the best of my ability and not go through a night of worry like that again!
Our house is a detached two story. The roof is 22 years old. We are not hugely exposed to the elements but over the years have noticed small pieces of mortar falling from the roof verge occasionally .
I’ve recently noticed a tile lifting on the verge (we lost a ridge tile and several others in the storm and these were patched up/replaced immediately after the storm) I’m looking to get a reliable roofer to assess if we need some repair to the entire verge.

I would be interested in peoples thoughts regarding repairing a wet verge or installing one of those new dry verges?

Also, I’d appreciate if anyone had a recommendation of someone who would do a good job on this in Galway city.

Thank you Leo …if we need to do a full verge repair I think we will go with the dry one. Waiting to get some recommendations for a roofer who will assess if a patch repair or bigger job needed. I just want it done right

While I can see the benefits of dry verges, is a liftime of 10 years worth it?
Mine have been in place on a very exposed site for 22 years and lasting another 22 or more wouldn't surprise me. The 10 years will likely refer to the warranty that company will offer on the installation. They state wet verges only last a few years yet I know examples that have lasted decades without the need to repair.
