RIP Thread for Notable People

They don’t make rock stars like Ozzy anymore .
Arrested for public intoxication and urinating on the gates of the Alamo whilst wearing Sharon’s dress after she hid his clothes to prevent him from leaving the hotel whilst on a massive bender .
Rest easy big man .

Sean Rocks died suddenly last night. I was wondering why Rick O'Shea was standing in the last few nights. Really enjoyed listening to Sean over the years, his knowledge of the industry, enthusiasm for the arts and just genuine interest in everyone he interviewed was lovely and he came across as a really nice fella. RIP Sean agus comhbroin le do theaghlach.

Mickey MacConnell 3 Jul 2025 aged 77, RIP in Listowel Co Kerry. Sorry, I missed this one.

Formerly with the Irish Press and The Irish Times, he was probably best know as the composer of "Only Our Rivers Run Free". He moved from Fermanagh to Kerry where he was a stalwart of all things musical and cultural. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a nanam dhéilis

Michael (Mickey) MacConnell

Straight talker, no nonsence character. Had been ill for some time, dealt with his illness and his imminent death in an admirable manner. RIP.
I remember him on uk tv on Friday nights in the late 80s/ early 90s. He was a world away from anything RTE had to offer at the time.
