Hi all,
My brother passed away late last year so we informed Revenue ASAP and I provided my contact details for them.

We completed a paper Form 11 which my brother had mostly completed (even had completed postal orders clipped to them) with some help from Revenue and dropped it into the local Revenue office.

I only have experience of the PAYE system so please keep that in mind.

I received in the Post from Revenue late last November entitled "The Personal Representative of...." and it's titled "Notice of assessment for the year ending 31 December 2012 Income Tax".

It concludes with "Balance Overpaid: €x" "This overpayment will be dealt with as soon as possible".

It's been two months now and not a sign?

Hi,

My condolences on your loss.

Where there is an overpayment the form as standard contains that phrase. Are there outstanding VAT or PAYE returns or a payment for Preliminary Tax 2013 due.

You should consider taking some professional advice to prepare the 2013 tax return.

Update.

I've called Revenue and they confirmed that for my brother's PPS number that there's an overpayment showing on the system.

They're going to call / email me back as soon as they've confirmed whats the options given that my brother's death seems to complicate the situation.
