Returning to study and moratorium on mortgage?

I am returning to college to do a one year postgrad in October. I will receieve next to no assistance because I won't have been a year unemployed, the social welfare won't help out with postgrad courses etc.

The most I can get is fees paid and a maintenance of max €6,000. Just wondering in these circumstances what would be the chances of getting a year's moratorium on my mortgage?? I am with Bank of Scotland.

Thanks

thanks for the reply

I am not eligible for that as I am not unemployed for over 12 months, would have been better off loosing my job 4 months previous before I did.......seems a bit of a messed up system.

If you received a statutory redundancy, the 12 month time limit doesn't apply, you automatically qualify provided that you are in receipt of one of the relevant SW payments at the time of commencing the course. Obviously if you took up a job after being made statutorily redundant, then you are no longer in this category. The other conditions regarding the course itself and any previous study you did etc still have to be met.
