Response from Revenue

I have submitted a Form 12 for 2003 last February which includes rental income (and tax arising). Having not received any response I rang a number of months ago to be told that there was a backlog which would take a number of months to clear. Meanwhile I still have not heard formally back from them.
Can they charge me interest on any tax payable while I await hearing from them as to my exact tax position??

I suspect they open the mail when they get it, even if it takes a while to deal with it.

On all revenue forms there is a Date Received field, which I presume they fill in when the mail is opened.

So I think you're fine.

Contrary to popular opinion, revenue are actually quite reasonable in matters like this.
