Reporting gains on the sale of and distributions from ETFs

Hello,

I am new to this community - if the question that I am about to pose has been addressed in the past please let me know…..

In summary, I am hoping that someone from this community can shed some light on a tax reporting challenge that I am currently facing. I received distributions from Irish domiciled exchange traded funds (ETFs) in 2023/2024. I declared these distributions on my income tax return 2023/2024 under "Other Income" - "Untaxed Income Arising in the State" - "Other Investments". However, I do not believe that this is the correct category as Revenue taxed these distributions as income tax not exit tax. My understanding is that both gains on the sale of and distributions from Irish domiciled ETFs are subject to exit tax (41% prior to 1 January 2026, currently 38%). In 2025 I made a small gain on the sale of some shares in an Irish domiciled ETF and also received some distributions - I want to ensure that reporting for 2025 is accurate and taxed under the correct regime. I raised this query with Revenue in early November 2025 and have been going around in circles trying to get an accurate response, to no avail.

Does anyone from this community have experience reporting gains on the sale of shares in Irish domiciled ETFs and distributions from Irish domiciled ETFs on their income tax return? If yes I would be really grateful if you could point to the section that I need to report this in to ensure the correct tax treatment.

Thanks in advance!

I queried Revenue about this years ago and I was told to declare them under "323. Offshore Funds (Part 27 Ch 4)." even though they are domiciled in Ireland.
So I put dividend payments from ETFs under 323 (a) and gains from ETF sales under 323 (c).

This what it looks like on the paper form.

The screenshot is from the paper Form 11:
But I think that the circumstances in which you can do a paper form return are very limited, if available at all, these days?

On Form 11, in the Foreign Income section you
Any dividend payments received go under Section 747D(a)(i)(II)
Any gains on disposal (deemed or real) go under 747E(1)(b)(ii)
