I am PAYE and have about 9k rental income per year. When I subtract maintenance and ecpenses it is less. Where do I fill in this in Form 12? The form says about claiming various reliefs. My house which is rented out to a tenant is a house built in the mid 2000s and I don't claim any reliefs.

I am doing the paper form as my spouse will only do paper. We pay 40% tax on our paye income. Do we attach the expenses and tax calculation to the form?

Assuming this isn't a rent a room scenario, with more than €5K gross non-PAYE income you need to register for self assessment so form 12 is the wrong option here. You should be doing a form 11 or ROS online return.
You must register for self-assessment if:
  • your taxable non-PAYE income exceeds €5,000
  • or
  • your gross non-PAYE income exceeds €30,000.
If you're in doubt about your tax responsibilities here then you should probably get professional advice from a tax expert or accountant. (I am neither).

If your net rental income is over €5,000, you will have to register for self-assessment. Use the Revenue Online Service (ROS) to declare your rental income in your Form 11.
