Hi,

I've searched and search etc but I can't find an answer on this so apologies if it exists in here somewhere.

Myself and girlfriend have our house (Jointly owned no mortgage) rented out at the moment.
We are both PAYE and she also self-employed workon top.

Who is liable to pay the tax on the rental income? Can I just declare the whole liability under my name?

Rent comes into my account and its my name on the lease

Would that payment discharge the tax liability?

Reason for asking, she already has her payment up to date for her own non-PAYE work, I was going to take this on but the more I read, the more I get lost!

Thanks for any help

If the property is jointly owned then the rent rent is split in the same ration 50:50?

You will be assessed on your income plus 1/2 the rent, your gf on her income plus 1/2 the rent.
