We are moving soon to a rental property close to my husbands place of work. He has been working away from home for a year now and it has created too much strain on family life only seeing him 2 days a week. We will be keeping our family home until we are satisfied that we are happy in the new location and also as a base to visit relatives and friends. My question is as follows:
1. Can we claim rent relief on the rental property. I understand that this is the case from the revenue website. The property is registered with the PRTB.
2. If we claim rent relief do we lose our TRS (currently €1200 pa) on our family home.
All going well our intention is to move permanently in 18 to 24 months and sell our family home then.
