Rent Relief for Student studying in Belfast

Hi,

My girlfriend has spent the last two years living up north as a student in rented accommodation. Is she entitled to claim tax relief on the rent paid and how would she go about claiming it.

You can only claim rent relief in Ireland against income. If you've no income you've nothing to claim against.

Your girlfriend could only claim rent relief if she had an income in the UK and the UK had a similar tax allowance.
